The Sunday after Thanksgiving, we traveled to Daniken Tree Farm to pick out our Christmas tree. It was a very chilly day, so the snow suits were brought out for the boys. Papa and Nana joined us and picked out their Christmas tree too.
It was a muddy mess at the tree farm on top of the cold weather. After we bundled up, we jumped on a wagon and took a tractor ride to find the perfect tree. I wanted a big tree this year!! We finally decided on a field after a couple of stops.
The search began. Nolan and Carter wanted to carry the saws. Probably not the safest thing, but they felt important. Blake hung out on Papa's shoulders and had fun being outside.
The saw was almost as tall as Carter, but he wasn't going to allow anyone to help him carry it!Still searching.....
See the big open field in the background behind the tractor and then the line of Christmas trees on the other side? We walked from the other tree line to this one, but we found a tree!! Papa and Nana found their tree first. Bill, Carter and Nolan assisted Papa in cutting it down.
Happy boy Blakey hanging out with Nana, while the boys cut down Papa and Nana's tree.
The search continued. I felt like I found the perfect tree and then it had a bald spot on the other side or was leaning a certain way. After about 30 minutes of walking, the group started calling me Clark and asking how much further. Then I was informed, "Nolan's legs were numb" and "Carter's face was numb." I picked up on the hints, everyone was done looking and I finally decided on the tree we originally liked.
The boys were happy to finally be cutting down their Christmas tree.
Carter wanted to make sure the stump wasn't sticking up too high, so he and Nana trimmed it a little shorter.
It was a cold day, but a fun day with family!
