Oh What Fun it is to Ride in a Daddy-Horsed Toddler Sled

Since it finally snowed this past weekend, Bill decided he needed to take Nolan sledding.  Who knows if we will receive anymore snowfall the rest of this winter.  There was only a couple of inches on the ground, but Bill and Nolan made it work.  We used Nolan's sled he received for his birthday last year.  He wore his new coveralls, snow boots, and gloves to keep him warm.

At first Nolan did not like the sled at all.  He wanted to walk around on his own.  I told him to lick the snow and he tried to bend over, but the snowsuit wouldn't allow him to.  He stuck his tongue out and said, "lick it mama!"  I laughed so hard!  Bill grabbed a handful of snow for Nolan to lick.  He said, "oohhh cold, mmmmm!!"  Nolan is such a character!

Trying to bend over and lick the snow

Nolan needed to do his chores and check on the cows.  Once Nolan was assured the cows had enough food, Bill asked Nolan to ride the sled down the hill.  Nolan still wasn't convinced the sled was any fun.

I told Bill to take a ride down the hill first to show Nolan how the sled worked.  Once Nolan saw Bill start down the hill, he became so excited and wanted to ride the sled with dada!!  Poor Bill walked Nolan in the sled up the hill every time!  At least Bill was able to work out and Nolan thought it was funny watching Daddy huff and puff up the hill.  Papa T and baby Carter watched the fun from out of the upstairs window.  It was way too cold for baby Carter to be outside!!

At the end of every ride Nolan would say, "one more time dada!!"  Finally, Bill explained to Nolan it was the last time going down the hill because it was becoming too cold outside.  I took a video of the last ride.  Of course, at the end of this ride Nolan said, "two more time dada!!"

Two More Christmases

This weekend marked the end of the Christmas celebrations at the Purcell household.  Bill and I traveled back home more this week than we have in the past 3 months!!  It was great being able to see all of our family.

On Saturday we visited Grandpa Bill and Grandma Mary.  Everyone enjoyed the delicious food and Dirty Santa gifts.  As usual, we played White Elephant and everyone cringed at the site of the two pages of "right" and "left" listed in BOLD.  I did remind Bill the page numbers have decreased over the years! :)  We love to tease Mary about this game.

 CaCa Booger!
Representing the Purcell clan.  Bill's cousin Mike had t-shirts made with a four leaf clover, Purcell is Irish, on the front and Purcell on the back for everyone!! Way cool.  Nolan was excited because the shirts were GREEN!!

Today we celebrated Christmas with Grandma Donna and Grandpa Rick!  We ate our favorite chex mix and other great food, opened presents, and played.  For Nolan and Carter it was the first time meeting a few of their cousins.  Nolan had fun with the cousins playing, and Carter mostly slept and ate.  If Carter was awake, he was chewing on something.

A great weekend to end the Christmas celebrations and kick of the New Year!!  It was great seeing everyone and we enjoyed eating all the delicious food.

Merry Christmas 2012!!

Nolan awoke Christmas morning saying, "Dada Santa come!!"  Bill and I were both shocked he remembered Santa Clause was coming over night to leave him presents!!  He is so smart.  We awoke and crept out into the living room to see what Santa had left us.

Santa only left a few cookie crumbs behind, so Nolan did a great job on his cookies!  Of course, Nolan ate the left over crumbs.  Only after eating the cookie crumbs, did Nolan see the presents and his stocking filled with goodies.

Santa built a barn for Nolan's tractors out of his new blocks
 Boo boo dada, kiss it
Dada was surprised and loved his Kuerig!!

After all the presents were opened upstairs, we took Nolan and Carter down to the basement to see what Santa had left them.  A huge playhouse!!  Nolan loved it.  Thanks Santa.  The doorbell rings and Nolan thought this was cool.

Bill and I let Nolan play for a little bit while we loaded up the car to travel to G.G. and Papa Chesser's house.  It was hard for Nolan to leave his toys, but we mentioned Papa and Nana and he jumped right into the car.  Carter and I took a nap on the way up!  We arrived at the Chesser's and Christmas was in full swing.  We ate, opened presents, and played games.  Oh what fun!!

Nolan handed presents out to every single person!!

After a game of Logos, The Young/Purcell clan had to say good bye because we had to go to Meme and Poppy's house for Christmas too.   Nolan has lots of younger cousins to play with at Meme and Poppy's, so he was excited.  Carter slept almost the entire time we were there, but woke up right before we left.  He was exhausted!!

Finally after eating and playing again, we went back to Nana and Papa's house.  The boys were once again showered with gifts!  I don't think Nolan went to bed until 11:00!!

The day after Christmas, the family relaxed at Nana and Papa's house.  Everyone took it easy and played with our new gadgets and toys.  Nolan helped Papa do the chores and work in the shed.  Nolan wore his new camo coveralls, snow boots, and gloves.  Carter hung out inside playing with his new toys and on his new play mat.

Bath time for Nolan!  His hair has gotten so long, I put it in a faux hawk.

Bill, Nolan, Carter, and myself had an amazing Christmas! Thank you to everyone who made us feel so loved.  We still have two more Christmas celebrations to attend this weekend!!  I don't know where we are going to put everything.  Hopefully a new house is in the near future.
