Baby P's Ultrasound and Pictures

Today, I had my Check-Up and Ultrasound for Baby P.  Bill took off work to go with me, while Nolan went to the babysitter's to hang out for awhile.  Children under the age of 6 are not allowed in the sonogram room, which is okay because I don't think Nolan would have lasted longer than five minutes in the room.

Baby P was VERY active, it wouldn't stay still for more than a few seconds at a time.  One minute the baby's head was up by my belly button and the next minute it's head was down in my pelvic bone.  The ultrasound tech had to keep moving the sensor around to take pictures of the baby.  At one point, the tech said the baby looked like a river dancer because of the way the baby was kicking and moving around.  The baby's heart rate was 143 bpm.  The baby weighed in at 11oz.  My expected due date is still September 16th.  Dr. Hulsen said the baby is perfectly healthy in every way!!  Bill and I were so excited to finally see our baby.

Nolan's New Moves!

My little man loves to dance, and I was finally able to record him.  Any time music comes on, Nolan usually swings his arms and bobs his head back and forth.  On this occasion I assume he was trying to Pop, Lock, and Drop it, in which only the Pop was executed.  All we have to do is say dance and away he goes.  He's got moves like his daddy!! :)

We Went Out and Played at the Zoo Today

Earlier this morning, Bill and I decided it would be a perfect day to take Nolan to the Zoo.  The last time we took Nolan to the Zoo he was only 6 months old!  Times sure does fly, since he is now 16 months old.  The weather was perfect, 65 degrees and sunny.  All of the animals were out playing and Nolan was able to see a lot of active animals.  Bill bought the Safari Pass, so we were able to see shows, ride the train, and visit the Children's Zoo at no extra cost!!

Since Nolan is now a toddler, I wanted to take him to the Children's Zoo to have a hands on experience with the animals.  He really liked petting the goats and pointing at all of the other animals.

Poot loved the reptiles!
Nolan is almost as tall as a Koala Bear!
I think he was trying to figure out how to ride the goat.
The goats kept climbing the rock walls

We completed the tour of the Children's Zoo and decided to take Nolan around to see a few of the other animals close by.  Nolan enjoyed the elephants.  There were two baby elephants playing out in the yard.  Nolan kept hearing the train whistle in the distance.  Every time it sounded he waved his arm and said, "bye bye."  We decided our next stop would be the train station.  All three of us were able to fit into one seat.  Nolan enjoyed the train ride, and so did daddy.  I thought Bill was going to fall asleep because it was so relaxing.  The only thing Nolan did not like about the train was the dark tunnels we had to go through.  The train was great because we were able to map out where the animals were located that we wanted to see.

Nolan has been watching the movie "Happy Feet", so I wanted to take him to see the penguins.  As soon as we rolled up into the entrance, he started smiling and laughing at the little guys playing in the water.  It was an even better treat when we took him inside to see the other penguins.  His eyes lit right up!!  It's so neat to see how he reacts to live animals because he recognizes them from a movie.  He was able to pet a penguin that was swimming in one of the indoor pools.  The temperature was really chilly for the penguins, hence Nolan wearing his hat.  Since Nolan enjoyed the penguins so much, I got him a souvenir t-shirt with penguins on it.

 My boys!

Along with seeing the penguins, I wanted Nolan to ride the carousel.  He was a little antsy at first, but as soon as the ride starting going round and round he hung on for dear life.  He didn't whine or smile, so I'm not too sure what he thought of the carousel.  I chose a Puffin for him to ride on, like Sven from Happy Feet Two.

Waiting in line
 Yay!!

Nolan had his first taste of cotton candy.  At first, he thought the texture was funny and he wouldn't put it in his mouth.  After he got a taste of the sugary substance, he stuck the whole piece in his mouth.  I only let him have one little taste, and I devoured the rest of the bag myself.  The baby was quite active after I ate the bag of cotton candy!! All of the sugar...

I'll  never forget the picture my mom took of my dad and I at the Zoo when I was little.   I was standing on the gorilla with my dad holding onto me, so I had to recapture the picture with Poot.  The crazy thing is both pictures were taken in April, but 24 years apart.  It is weird to see how the Zoo has changed since 1988.  Nolan wanted to sit on the gorilla, and we had to get a picture of Bill and Nolan too.  A lady was nice enough to take a picture of all of us as a family.

Bill, Nolan, and I had a blast at the Zoo today.  The weather was perfect and all the animals were out and about.  A great family day!!

Gone Fishin'

For Bill's birthday, Bill, Nolan, and I went to Cabela's to buy a new reel for his fishing pole.  Nolan loved the fish at Cabela's!  He kept walking up to the tanks and trying to say fish.  Bill wanted to buy Nolan his first fishing pole.  Of course, I said Nolan had to have a life vest if he was going to be fishing.  Bill and Nolan decided on a Spiderman fishing pole and it lights up!!  I had to search the store high and low to find a life vest small enough for Nolan, but Cabela's had one.  I tried it on Nolan and he thought it was pretty cool.

Not a fan of the Davey Crocket hat

Friday we were able to test out Bill's new reel and Nolan's new pole.  We kept the rubber fish on the end instead of a hook for Poot;  he thought he was cool though.  Bill caught a 2lb bass right off the bat.  The new reel was magic! ;)  Nolan was fascinated by the fish.  He kept petting it and trying to stick his hand down the fish's throat.

 The Proud Fisherman
What's in there dada?

Nolan liked sitting in his chair and reeling the line back in.  Nana had to help cast the line for him though.  After awhile, Nolan/Nana caught the fish on a rock and Bill had to brave the chilly water to untangle the line.

Nice legs daddy!!

We had a great time fishing!  Nolan would rather ride on the Kubota, but I'm sure one day he will enjoy fishing with Bill.

Happy Easter!

Bill, Nolan, and I are truly blessed to have such a wonderful family in our lives.  On Saturday, we went home to celebrate Bill's birthday/ Easter with G & G Purcell and G & G Funderburk.  On Sunday, we celebrated Easter at Nana and Papa's house with both sides of my family.  Nolan had a great time playing and seeing all of his family members.

This morning Nolan woke up, I wanted him to have an egg hunt by himself before church.  The temperature was chilly and the grass was wet, so Nolan did not want to go into the grass and look for eggs.    I snapped a couple of pictures of Poot before heading to church with Nana and Papa.

After church, we headed back to the house to finish setting up for Easter dinner.  Nolan kept saying, "Go Go Go."  He loves to take rides on the Kubota, so Papa took him for a ride to entertain him for awhile.

Family started to arrive for dinner and Nolan was excited to see everyone.  Unfortunately, when it was time to eat Nolan became grouchy and wasn't wanting to eat... nap time!  Poot went down for a nap and Bill and I visited with family.  It started to warm up outside and the other kiddos began hunting for eggs.  Nolan missed the Easter egg hunt, but that's okay.  I would rather him have a nice nap and be in a better mood.

Once Nolan, awoke from his nap I had Aunt Kelby take some pictures of the family.  Nolan was still tired and didn't want his picture taken.  He was a trooper for mommy, while I snapped away in different spots.

Cuddling with Nana because he is still a little sleepy

Nana fed Poot, while we were hanging out.  After Nolan had some food in his belly, he was in a great mood.  I finally was able to take a picture and have a smile!!  Bill and Papa were fishing, so Nolan was really excited and running around the place.

The day ended up being perfect! Beautiful weather and awesome family time.  My dad says the weather we have on Easter Sunday is the weather we are going to have for the next six weeks, I will take it!!  Hope everyone had a great Easter!
