Nolan's Winter One-derland

Today we celebrated Nolan's first birthday!! The theme of the party was "A Winter One-derland."  Nolan had a great time.  He is a very lucky boy to have so many wonderful people in his life who love him so much!

Nolan had a surprise visitor last night, Uncle Joe.  After Nolan awoke this morning, Uncle Joe gave Nolan his birthday present.  A book, which he loved!!

Nolan laid down for a little nap, while Bill, Joe, and myself prepared for the party.  I put the boys to work arranging, cutting, and measuring plenty of things.  It's a good thing Bill and Joe take direction so well, because everything went very smooth with the setup of the party.  Nana and Aunt Kelby came a little early to help with the food and the rest of the setup.  Kristin Hentze made Nolan's adorable and delicious cakes.  I placed snowflakes all around the kitchen to bring together the winter theme.

Nolan awoke from his nap about an hour before the guests started to arrive.  I dressed him in his shirt, and away he went to mingle with the guests.  Nollie is starting to walk more and more.  Of course, as soon as he started to walk he slipped and smacked his forehead on the corner of one of his presents.  Meltdown!  Not two minutes later he tripped again and smacked his head off of the tile floor.  Thank goodness we only had two accidents and they were right at the beginning of the party....

I put Nolan into his high chair, along with his bib and hat, so we could sing "Happy Birthday" to him.  Nolan didn't really know what to think.  He didn't know if everyone was singing to him or what.  Also, he liked the cake, but wasn't too messy.  I had to smear some icing on his face to get him started.

Nolan finished up with his smash cake, so everyone else was able to dig into their own piece of cake too.  Bill, Nolan, and I moved into the living room to open presents.  Nolan was a little overwhelmed with all of the amazing gifts he received.  I opened his presents and passed them to Bill and Nolan to play with for a little bit.

Nolan received a sleigh that has a seat and seat straps!!
Nolan's Great Grandma Beeler carved this wooden block for Nolan this morning!  She has not carved in six years and decided to bring out her carving knives for Nolan.  Very neat!
Nolan did like to read his cards!

After we finished opening presents, Nolan needed a break from the noise and crowd.  I watched Nolan and Grant take off into Nolan's room.  Nollie's favorite movie, Rio, was playing in his room.  The boys zoned in and kicked back to enjoy some R and R.

Rio lasted about 20 minutes and we decided to go back out and play with the new goodies Nolan received.  The older kids went to the basement to make crafts.  They each were able to "sow" their own stocking together and decorate it too.

Madison and Nolan testing out the sleigh.  Madison is one strong girl, because Nolan weighs almost as much as her.  Bill and Papa T want to hook the sleigh up behind the four wheeler when the ground is covered in snow. My response, "ya right".

When everyone started to leave, I tried to take their picture with Nolan.  He only turns ONE once.  I wasn't able to catch everyone, but the vast majority were taken.  Sorry, if you didn't have a picture taken with Nolan!
