School is in Session

Today marked the day two of the three Purcell boys now are attending school.  The morning started like any other morning, a few whines to get out of bed, the boys slowly dressing themselves, Nolan mad because I wet the toothbrush before applying toothpaste (apparently you're supposed to wet the toothbrush and the toothpaste at the same time), and Carter wanting to wear his snow boots instead of his tennis shoes.

Luckily, Bill and I both prepared ourselves for this day and decided we would go in to work a couple of hours late, so we could take pictures of Nolan and Carter.  Carter started his First Day of Preschool and Nolan started his last First Day of Pre-K.

Nolan was my trooper and smiled through all of his pictures!

Carter on the other hand, took lots of persuading to capture a smile.

My two handsome boys!  I cannot believe how grown up they both look in his picture.  Both Nolan and Carter make me so proud to be their mommy.

I think Carter was more excited about his green tractor school bag than school itself.

After dropping Blake off at Liz's we ventured to school.  Carter was very quiet on the way to school while Nolan explained the ropes to him.  Carter was attached to Bill's leg during the entire drop off process.

When Bill and I were getting ready to leave, Carter started screaming and crying for us.  Nolan looked half in fear and half in embarrassment at Carter.  Ms. Carrie told us to go and she would call if she needed us.  About 45 minutes later Carrie called me to let me know Carter calmed down and was sitting quietly looking at books.  At lunch time I called to check in on Carter once more and talked to Ms. Megan, Carter's teacher.  Megan said Carter was doing good, doing the typical asking a million questions.  Carter's questions mostly consisted of, "When to I get to see my brother?", "Where is my brother?", "Is somebody coming to pick me up?", "Do we take a nap at school?".  Ms. Cassandra so kindly sent this picture of Carter to me once I was off the phone with Megan.

Nolan had a great first day!! Carter's first day was kind of rocky.  We all know how it started in the morning.  At nap time, Carter kept scaring the little girl next to him.  The teacher had to have a talk with Carter.  Carter told the teacher, "No" a couple of times and had to be talked to again.  Wowzer!  This kid is something else.  I'm excited to have Carter become acclimated to school and learn the ropes, which will hopefully help him be a better listener.

Carter did come home and was talking about his snack and playing today.  It was cute listening to Nolan and Carter talk to each other about school and what they did during stations.

All in all I'm super excited for the boys to experience school this year.  Nolan is excited to be with Ms. Carrie and Ms. Jordyn again and to show Carter how fun school is.  Carter will hopefully adjust well and continue to be the smart little boy I know he is.

Blake is 10 Months Old

Blakey boy is 10 months old!  I measured and weighed him at home since he doesn't have a well visit until he is 12 months old.  Blake weighed 20lbs 6oz and measured 28 inches long!  He may be little but he is mighty!! Blake now has 3 teeth; two bottom teeth and one tooth on the top!  Blake is now in LOVE with his pacifier and doesn't want to be anywhere without it.  This is nice for a change because now Blake is only waking 2-3 times a night to eat instead of 4-5.

Blakey has been on the move! No more army crawling, but full out crawling on all fours.  Blake finally realized how much faster he can go now and doesn't stop moving until he is laying down in his crib.  Hence the reason there are not many pictures of him sitting still.

If Blake's pacifier is not in his mouth then something else is, because tooth letter F is so close to coming in!  This can sometimes annoy his big brothers because Blake can crawl to their toys and chew on them.  Gross!!

Blake loves bath time too.  He enjoys being in the tub by himself so he can kick and splash like a silly man.  Blake also likes being in the tub with his big brothers.

Happy 10 months to my blue eyed baby boy, Blake!  Wow, that sure is a lot of B's!!

Go Cards!

Bill won Cardinals tickets through work and decided it would be a great opportunity for a Purcell guys night at Busch Stadium.  So last night Bill, Nolan, Carter, Joe and Boppy went to the Cards game.  It was Carter's first time going to a Cardinals game and Nolan hasn't been to a game since he was 9 months old.

I took some pictures on the porch before the guys set off to the stadium! My boys sure do look handsome in their hats.

Bill did a great job taking pictures while at the game!  The seats were great, a few rows back from the first base line.

Bill said the boys behaved well at the game for their age.  Carter became a little antsy around the 2nd inning and Bill took him for walks around the stadium.  The boys enjoyed Ben and Jerry's ice cream and listening to the music play.  Nolan told me his favorite song of the night was, "Uptown Funk."

Nolan came home and told me there was a camera that went around the stadium watching people kiss.  Nolan thought the kiss cam was pretty funny.  I asked Nolan what his favorite part about the game was and he said, "Going around in circles when we were parking our car!"

Nolan also informed me, "The good team would win at the Cardinals.  The good team was the team dressed in white."  I let Nolan know the white team was the Cardinals and Busch Stadium is where they went to watch the Cardinals play.  As you can tell, we don't watch a lot of sports at our house!

A couple of home runs were hit and the fireworks went off!  Nolan and Carter didn't know what to think about the loud booms.  Carter became scared and wanted Uncle Joe to hold him.

The guys left the game at the end of the 6th inning.  Nolan's expression in this picture says it all!  All in all I think everyone had a great time and it was fun to have some guy time with the Purcell boys.

Pee on the Potty

Whew, I didn't know if it would ever happen.  Carter is finally potty trained.  I feel like we have been working with him for quite awhile.  We started once Carter turned 2, but he did not show any interest at all.  I decided to back off and not force the issue.  Around 3 months ago, Carter wanted to go pee on the potty like Nolan and Daddy, so we started up again.

Liz, our daycare provider, helped majorly!!  She made up a song, "Pee on the potty/ pee pee on the potty.  Don't pee on the floor/ Don't pee on the door/ we pee on the potty/ pee pee on the potty."  We interchanged a lot of rhyming words Carter thought were hilarious.  His favorite was, "Don't pee on the bed/don't pee on my head!" Carter of course liked to change the lyrics A LOT!! He liked to sing, "I pee on the floor and I pee on the door!!"

I ran some errands one night and Bill sent me this text of Carter on the couch with his potty chair!!!  I guess his show was too good to miss.

Carter has an occasional accident if he's too busy to stop playing and go!  He wears pull-ups at night but always wakes up dry.  This is a huge step because Carter has to be potty trained to go to Preschool at the end of this month.

Eventually we stopped the potty chair because Carter thought he could empty it himself!  Yuck.  Carter likes to "plush" the toilet a lot.  He also found the plunger in the spare bathroom and was helping himself.  I heard a lot of sloshing and went in to check on him.  He said, "Mom I have to get my turd out!"  Boy oh boy.  He already takes about 20 minutes to go poop.  I can't interrupt him to check on him because he gets mad.  I think it throws off his train of thought!

Way to go Lynn Lynn!!  Try and pay attention where you are aiming!!
