Nolan and Carter's First Camping Trip

Papa and Nana have been asking us to go camping with them for about a year now.  Bill and I decided this Labor Day Weekend would be a good time to go.  Papa and Nana camped close at the Pere Marquette State Park, so Bill and I packed the boys up and we headed to the campsite for a night of roughing it.  Roughing it is not the correct word, I think the correct word is "glamping".  Papa and Nana's camper is very nice.  We had our own section of the camper with our own bedroom and TV.

I was slacking on taking pictures, but there really wasn't a whole lot for us to do but hang out and relax.  We visited the "Best View in the Midwest" which was at the top of the bluffs in Grafton.  There was a zipline tour going on as well, but no one in our group partook.  We mostly enjoyed hanging out by the campfire, taking walks/bike rides throughout the campground, and eating yummy smores.

I think Nolan and Carter had a great first camping experience and want to go again soon!

At Home Maternity Photos

I've been wanting to take some maternity photos at home and I decided today was the day.  I asked Bill to become acquainted with our camera and he started snapping away.  I wish the pictures with the boys would have turned out, but of course they wouldn't cooperate and were being crazies!!  I think Bill did a great job with the pictures and I'm really happy with the way they turned out.  I am 33 weeks today!! Only a month and a half to go before we meet Baby P.......

Here are some shots with my crazy boys!! Nolan and Carter were too busy running around and jumping on the bed to pose for the camera.

Baby P's Nursery

Baby P's nursery is about 95% completed, so I decided to go ahead and post some pictures.  I decided to go with a very light gray and an accent wall of navy blue.  Aviation is the theme of the nursery.  Bill and I are very happy with the way the nursery turned out.  I hope our little boy likes planes!  A huge shout out to Daddy for doing an amazing job painting and hanging to my standards.  I'm sure I wasn't the easiest person to please, but Bill did a great job!  Carter and Nolan were a big help with the nursery as well.

Here is the before bland room:

Carter liked to carry around the paint for some reason.

The walls are finished and the furniture moved in.  Waiting on bedding and all of the wall decor to come in the mail.  Bill's grandma Beeler gave him the wooden airplane prop when Bill received his pilot's license!  Bill hung the prop with huge lug nuts into a stud and I made him hang off of the prop to prove to me it wouldn't fall in the middle of the night.  Nolan enjoyed using the stud finder!

We received the clouds in the mail, hung up the rest of the decor, and picked up our glider.  Bill came up with a genius idea to print off a flight sectional of the St. Louis area, which is what is framed and hung up. A flight sectional is a selection of visual checkpoints used for flight under visual flight rules (VFR)The nursery is almost complete.  Now we need a few small things and a baby to fill the room up.

Carter's Toddler Bed

As mentioned in my previous post, Carter's crib has been replaced with a toddler bed.  Carter has been great in his crib, so I was a little nervous about making the switch too early, but the time has come.  I wanted Carter to be able to adjust to his toddler bed before the baby arrived.  Since we started working on the nursery last weekend the timing was perfect.

Carter was super excited to have a big boy bed!  Carter kept running and laying on it.  As long as Carter has his blanket he can usually sleep anywhere, so I made sure all blankets were washed!  Bill and I decided we will start by taking turns laying on Carter's floor until he falls asleep for the first week, and then continue to move closer to the door as the weeks go by, until Carter is comfortably falling asleep on his own.  So far, this plan has been working great!  Carter lays down, covers his face with his blanket and goes to sleep.

Even though this bed is the size of a crib, Carter still looks so small in it!  When Carter slept in his crib he moved all over the place so I was afraid he would fall out of the bed.  So far, Carter has not fallen out of the bed once.

However, he does wake up around 1:00 every morning and walk into our room to sleep in our bed.  Bill and I are currently in the process of breaking this habit, but so far I'm very proud of how well Carter has been doing.

A Prenatal Visit

Wow, I know I just posted about my last check-up, but I had one again on Friday.  I will try to be more proactive about posting on time.  My check-up with Dr. Hulsen was pretty straight forward, no testing of anything just listened to the baby's heartbeat on the Doppler, took my weight and blood pressure, and measured my belly.  Baby's heart sounded great and my belly measured at 31cm, which is perfect.  It's hard to believe I know start seeing Dr. Hulsen every 2 weeks instead of once a month!

My insomnia has set in at night, so I'm a lot more exhausted during the day now.  It's weird how I can be so tired when I come home from work, but when it's time to go to sleep I just lay in bed WIDE awake.  The baby is moving a lot and it's hard for me to find a comfortable position as well.  I feel as big as a house, but still have 9 weeks left!!!

My silly boys have been helping with the nursery and are really becoming excited about their baby brother.  Nolan received a new dresser for his room and the baby took his old one.  Nolan tells everyone he gave his baby brother his dresser, and this is why Nolan received a new one.  Carter was kicked out of his crib and is now sleeping in a toddler bed.  My boys are making adjustments and seem to be doing great with them.  Pictures of the nursery are soon to come, but I want it to be completely finished before making a post.  We are just waiting on some furniture to come in and then the nursery will be complete and a post will be made. :)
