Touch-A-Truck

On Saturday, the Touch-A-Truck fair was held at the airplane park!  I figured the boys would love this activity, so we headed over to the airplane park when it was still cooler during the late morning.  At first, Nolan and Carter acted shy and didn't want anything to do with the big trucks.  Once the boys saw the front loader, backhoe, and the dump truck they opened up and began to explore.

Carter was too busy watching and chasing the local Kubota, too bad the Kubota wasn't part of the fair!  Carter kept saying, "Ride Boka!!!"

The boys were allowed to climb inside a firetruck, ambulance, cop car, tow truck, dump truck, and tractor.  The tow truck had a swing hanging off of it's tow bar, which was pretty cool.

While Carter and daddy were off chasing the Kubota, Nolan explored the back of an ambulance.  Nolan saw the gurney and said, "That's where dead people lay down."  I quickly explained to Nolan the ambulance is a vehicle that transports people who are really sick or hurt and not always DEAD.  Nolan replied, "Yea, like if they get shotted!!"  I swear this kid is too smart for his own good sometimes.

It started to become pretty hot outside and the boys had seen all the trucks they wanted to see, so we decided to head home for naps.  The boys slept great!!  What a fun day at the airplane park!!

Another prenatal visit

Last Friday, June 6th, I had a prenatal visit with Dr. Hulsen.  This visit marked the point where Dr. Hulsen starts to measure my belly each month.  I measured 23cm, which was when I was 23 weeks, and I am spot on with development.  The baby's heart rate was in the 140's this time, so lower than it has been in the past appointments.  His heart rate may be lower, but he's very active!!  I've been feeling lots of movement and Nolan has even been able to feel the baby move too.

When I say I have been craving no-bake cookies, I mean it!!  I have made 4 different batches in the past 3 weeks and I devour them before anyone else has a chance to even look at them!!  No-bake cookies have always been a favorite of mine, but I'm OBSESSED!!

Nolan has been very aware and interested in my pregnancy. I was sitting on the couch a couple of weeks ago and out of nowhere Nolan asks, "Mommy does the baby come out of your mouth?"  I started to laugh and replied, "No".  Nolan wasn't satisfied with this answer.  "Where does it come out of?"  I replied, "Where do you think?"  After asking Nolan this question he thought for a few minutes and I started to dread what his answer was going to be.  A huge grin filled Nolan's face and he had a mischievous look in his big brown eyes.  Nolan replied, "Your belly button!!  It opens up and after the baby comes out, the Dr glues it back together!"  Whew, was I relieved.  "Yep, you're right Nolan."  Nolan was proud of himself for coming up with this answer, smiled really big at me, and went back to playing the rest of the night!!

An Early Father's Day Weekend

The Purcell boys took their annual trip this weekend, and this year they traveled to Shawnee National Park in Illinois.  Nolan tagged along this year as well.  Nolan had a blast taking in all of the surroundings and spending quality alone time with his daddy.  Bill sent me pictures throughout the weekend to assure me that Nolan was still being fed and kept safe! :)  A huge shout out to Bill for taking lots of good pictures.  I was very impressed when Bill came home and showed me all of the pictures he took.  Bill knew I would want some to post on the blog! What a great hubby.

Shortly after arriving at their cabin, Bill wanted to take Nolan to the Garden of the Gods.

Needless to say, I did not see this picture until both boys had returned home!  Bill knew I would have freaked out if he would of text this picture to me!

The boys ended their Friday evening playing Leggos and eating dinner.  Nolan and I were able to FaceTime and he was so excited to tell me about his day!!  Around 9:30pm I received a FaceTime call with Nolan crying, he was home sick and scared of the dark.  I read a few Thomas and Friends books to him and he calmed down.  Bill turned on a few lights and Nolan slept great!

On Saturday, the adventure continued to Pounds Hollow Lake.  Bill said the lake was nice and not too chilly.  Nolan said, "A huge fish swam by him, but the fish had little teeth so it didn't bite him!"  I loved receiving FaceTime calls from Bill and Nolan.  Nolan was so excited to tell me about his adventures!!

To finish up Saturday's travels, the guys went to Rim Rock, the Bat Cave in Nolan's imagination.  Bill said Nolan had a lot of fun climbing the different rocks and running along the different trails.

Carter and I sure are glad to have Daddy and Poot back home with us, but I know Nolan and Bill had a lot of fun hanging out together.

Carter's 20 Month Well Visit

Finally, Carter was able to go to the pediatrician for his 18 month well visit!!  The past couple of months Carter battled a few ear infections, which delayed his well visit appointment.  Today, Carter was able to be measured, weighed, and vaccinated.

Carter weighed 25 pounds 8 ounces and measured 32 and a half inches long.  Both of these measurements place Carter in the 40th percentile for weight and height.  Carter received two shots and he took them like a champ!

In the past few months, Carter has grown up tremendously.  Carter LOVES being outside all the time.  He enjoys swinging and going down the slide at home.  Carter is obsessed with riding on the "bo-cah" when he visits Papa and Nana's house.  Carter has really started spitting out words lately.  The most famous words are, "butt, ewe, cah-cah", "boo-boo", "mine", "was that?", and "bo-cah".  These words make an appearance at least 3-4 times a day!

Carter has inherited the nickname, "Lynn Lynn".  I have been calling him this for a long time, but realized I have never blogged about it.  It kind of started when Carter would wake up, he would have sleepy eyes and Nolan would say, "good morning chinese!"  I decided to start calling him "Lynn Lynn" for his middle name mostly, but he does still have squinty eyes in the morning.

This past weekend, we went home for Uncle Jaron's graduation party and Papa took Carter fishing.  Excuse Papa, he doesn't wear a shirt in the summer.  Carter thought he was big stuff cranking in the fishing line.  Carter loves his best buddy, Papa.

Papa even caught a fish and let Carter touch it.  At first, Carter was hesitant to touch the fish, but Papa asked Carter where the fish's eye was and Carter poked the poor fish in the eyeball.

I love you little Lynn Lynn, mischievous dimple smile and all!!  I cannot believe you're almost 2 years old and how much you have grown up so quickly!  You're my handsome, blue-eyed baby boy!
