Carnival Fun

What better way to spend our beautiful Saturday evening than to attend a carnival.  A local church was holding an annual carnival and this year the weather was perfect to go to it.  Nolan had a blast going down the slide, riding the cars, shooting cork guns, and fishing.  Carter enjoyed the fun surroundings from his stroller and couldn't have been happier.  Uncle Joe and Michelle came for a visit and decided to join us as well.

Nolan jumped back and forth between the slide and the cars, the slide and the games, and the slide and well the slide!  Nolan's favorite was definitely the slide.  He became so adventurous, Nolan wanted to ride on his own sack by himself.  Bill or I made sure to hold his hand though.

Nolan and daddy shot the cork gun and won a picture with tractors!  Nolan wanted the picture of papa's tractors to take home.

While fishing, Nolan wouldn't touch the fish to take them off of the "hook."  I don't blame him.  They were slimy and smelt like real fish!  Oh well, he won a toy gun and had fun fishing.

Uncle Joe and Michelle took Nolan on the last ride of the night and had fun.

We all enjoyed the weather and had fun watching Nolan enjoy the festivities.

Carter is 8 Months Old!

Carter became 8 months old today!  I weighed and measured Carter at home since he doesn't go back to the pediatrician until next month for his 9 month well visit.  Carter weighed in at 20 pounds and measured 27 1/2 inches long.  Carter is talking up a storm and on the move!!

Carter would not leave his tie alone, so I had to put it on his back.

Carter babbled his first word on May 5th, which was "ba ba."  A weird first word, especially since Carter does not like to take a bottle.  Carter has since uttered "dada, nana, and mama."  He is a talking machine.  He likes to grunt and whinny like a horse too.  Carter also likes the sound of clicking his tongue.  He is so full of little tricks.

Carter has always liked to be in the middle of everything and now when he isn't, Carter will roll to where the action is.  There is no leaving this little guy out of anything anymore.  Carter is starting to pull his knees underneath his belly and rock back and forth.  Carter and Nolan have a lot of fun playing together.  Nolan is still protective over his toys, but is starting to become better at sharing his things with Carter.

Carter is constantly chewing on his giraffe.  I googled top rated teething toys and Sofie the giraffe is what showed up as #1!  Well Carter loves to chew on her and play with her as well.  She has been the best of all the teething toys we have tried, so I strongly agree with the ratings.

Happy 8 Months to my lovable and adventurous baby boy!

Nolan's Trip to the Fire House

Back in April, Nolan was given a personal tour of the Hillsboro Fire Station.  Aunt KK's boyfriend, James, is on the volunteer fire department and he showed Nolan around the fire station.  Nolan has been to the GC Fire Station before, but he wasn't allowed to try on firemen gear or sit behind the steering wheel of a firetruck!  Poot is one lucky little boy.  Thanks James for letting Nolan have such a fun experience.  Nolan thought he was hot stuff and he still wears his fireman hat around the house.

Aunt KK took a few videos as well showing Nolan's reactions at the fire house.  He is so excited he is talking a mile a minute!

Carter's First Hair Cut!!

Mo's hair was starting to become too long on top.  Along with Carter's mohawk, he developed a patch of long hair over his left ear.  I decided Nana should give him a trim.  Today the boys went to Nana and Papa's house, so Carter was given his first "hair cut."  Mostly peach fuzz was removed, but he looks better!! Silly boy.  I wasn't there to take pictures, but Aunt KK recorded the event.

A Magical Day

This morning, Bill and I decided it was time to venture out of the house and take the boys on a trip.  The trip was to the Magic House!  Nolan is the perfect age to explore and enjoy all the Magic House has to offer.  Papa T tagged along for the fun too.  We're glad Papa came with us because he helped out with Carter when Bill and I wanted to play with Nolan and vice versa.  Papa and Nolan also had play time together as well.

It was gloomy outside, but inside the Magic House it was perfect!  First stop once we arrived was the bathroom for Bill and Papa.  While I waited with the boys, Nolan noticed the row of the alphabet.  Nolan would say the name of the letter and then lift up the door to reveal an item inside starting with the letter on the door.  He did really good naming the objects inside, but when he came to the letter "O" instead of saying, "orange" he said, "cutie."  This gave us a good laugh!  Nolan loves eating cuties at our house.

Nolan was a busy man all day long.  We hit every section of the Magic House and Nolan did not complain once about being tired!  Nolan would play for about 10-15 minutes at each area and then when I told him it was time to move on he said, "okay mommy!"  The Magic House is such a great place for toddler boys, so much to keep them occupied.  Carter was his happy-go-lucky self and had fun too.  Carter is such a good baby, he was along for the ride.

This was a rubber mulch, we need some for our backyard!

Once Nolan has his license, he will be our grocery shopper.  He picked out all healthy food to put in his grocery basket.

Nolan went fishing with Papa a couple of weekends ago, so he was excited to go "fishing" here.  The funny thing was he thought it was a real fish.  Nolan helped me catch the fish, but when I brought the fish up to Nolan for him to take the fish off of the hook he said, "no mama you do it!"  I showed Nolan it was a fake fish, so he decided to remove the fish from the hook and throw it back into the pond.

Nolan helped Bill work on his car a few weekends ago, so Nolan knew what he was doing.  Papa helped Nolan start the lug nuts and Nolan went in with the impact to tighten the nuts all the way.  The toy impact made the noise of a working impact, but the impact wasn't spinning.  The look of confusion on Nolan's face was priceless!  Nolan knew the impact was supposed to spin and tighten the nuts, but it wasn't working.

Daddy and Papa had just as much fun as Nolan did playing with all of the cool experiments.  They're definitely little boys at heart!

Since I have the longest hair out of everyone who went, I took Nolan in to touch the Electrostatic Generator.  This thing was serious business.  I had to touch it because if Nolan let go, something would happen.  The girl working wouldn't explain to me, but it seemed serious.  As soon as the girl turned it on, Nolan grabbed his head and looked worried.  Then he saw my hair and thought it was funny!  Poor Carter's mohawk already stands up, so I didn't take him in.

In the Bubble Room, Nolan and I made a huge bubble go all the way around us!  I will definitely be doing this during the summer with a hula hoop.

Carter Purcell has a political ring to it.....

Nolan Purcell has more of a Construction Foreman ring to it....

After about 3 hours at the Magic House, everyone was exhausted.  Carter fell asleep right before we left.  We packed up and headed home.  Nolan fell asleep in the car before we were on the interstate.

What a fun day full of memories!
