Trick-or-Treat Shrek and Dronkey Style

Last night was trick-or-treating in Edwardsville, so Bill and I dressed the boys and went out on the town.  Actually, just to the Keller's subdivision.  Nolan has been obsessed with the color green and Shrek, so about a month ago I decided he would dress up as Shrek for Halloween.  What else would Carter dress up as than the noble steed, Donkey.  Since, the store didn't have Donkey in an infant size costume I ordered a Dronkey costume, Dragon and Donkeys baby.

I ordered the costumes online.  It was an ordeal.  Needless to say, I had to improvise Nolan's costume. I bought a green hat to replace the Shrek mask, which was not shipped with the rest of the costume.

I had Bill take pictures of the boys while they were getting ready at our house.

 Shrek was ready to go..

Nolan watches Shrek too much because apparently he knows Shrek rides Donkey.  He plopped right on Carter's tail and said, "ride!!"  Bill and I laughed so hard!
 My happy baby boy!!
 A little brotherly love

Our first stop, the Keller's house.  Madison and Grant had already been trick-or-treating and were handing out candy to the other kids.  Nolan and Grant didn't mind the cold weather at all, but I was worried Carter would become cold.  I asked Mark and Tiff if they would watch Carter, while Bill and I took Nolan to a few houses.  They said sure thing!

Nolan wanted to walk by himself and he did a good job.  Bill or I only carried him at the very end because he wanted to eat candy instead of walk.  He kept saying, "trick treat" while we were walking, but as soon as we would approach a door he would become shy.   After Nolan collected candy from the first house, he would arrive at the other houses and try to give them his candy! It was so cute.  If only he shared everything else.  Between Bill and Nolan I think there were only a few candy bars left by the time we made it back to the Kellers house.

 Here's some candy ma'am

Bill, Nolan, and I made it back to the Keller's safe and sound.  Carter didn't behave too badly while we were away.  Tiffany and Mark offered us their leftovers from dinner, so Bill and I accepted.  What great friends we have!! We invited ourselves over and were fed!!  We stayed and visited for awhile and then headed home.  The Halloween Parade is tonight, which I'm sure Nolan will thoroughly enjoy!!

Mommy and Nolan's Day Together

Since my maternity leave will be coming to an end in a couple of weeks, I wanted to take the day and spend it with Nolan.  Tuesday morning I took Carter to the sitter's, so Nolan could have my full attention all day.  I left Nolan in the car while I took Carter inside.  The first thing Nolan said when I climbed back into the car was, "baby carta?, where's carta?" and started to cry.  He loves his little brother so much.  I explained to Nolan we were going to spend the day together, him and I only!

I didn't feel like making breakfast, so I took Nolan out to eat for breakfast at IHOP.  I ordered a meal for us to split.  Nolan did great until about 10 minutes before we left and he started climbing all over the place.  At least I only had to worry about him.

Tiffany had told me about the Edwardsville Children's Museum and I had been wanting to take Nolan, but hadn't had the chance yet.  Yesterday morning was the perfect opportunity.  Nolan and I came home after breakfast, showered, dressed, and headed up to the museum.  Nolan thought it was cool, but most of the museum was geared towards older children.

I was very impressed with the museum.  It had tons of little stations for the kids to pretend play and dress up.  Nolan liked the kitchen and the grocery store the best.  Nolan loves to open our refrigerator at home and take out the ketchup and mustard, so this is exactly what he did at the museum in the kitchen area.

Checking the pizza to make sure its not too hot
 Nolan's lunch!

After Nolan made lunch he decided to he had used up all of the ketchup and needed to go to the grocery store to buy some more.  I think he will shop at Sam's when he is older because of the stock pile of ketchup he took!

Here's your change mama

Like I said, the museum had little stations set up throughout.  It was nice because Nolan could walk from one station to the other as he pleased.  Of course, he found the train table.

Stamping the package to be mailed

The PVC pipes were neat.  They had sandals to hit the opening and they would make different sounds. Nolan found a ball and threw it in one of the holes.  I captured his expression because he knew he wasn't supposed to do that.  Luckily, I retrieved the ball without a problem.

The magnet wall was a lot of fun too.  Tons of magnets from letters to animals and even BIG trucks!

After about an hour at the Museum, Nolan and I met Tiffany, Madison, and Grant for lunch to celebrate Madison's birthday.  We all had a really good time and the kids behaved themselves very well.  I was impressed because we were there for an hour and a half.  I think the mommy's needed some adult interaction.  We sang Happy Birthday to Madison and she blew out her candle to end lunch.

What a great mommy and Nolan day together!  He still amazes me at how much he is growing up.  Nolan is a very smart, very sweet little boy with an attitude at times but I wouldn't change him for the world!  I love you Nolan Henson!

Carter's 1 Month Well Visit

Today Carter had his one month well visit with Dr. Hulsen.  Once we were back in the room, the nurse had me undress Carter so he could be weighed and evaluated by Dr. Hulsen.  I guessed Carter to weigh about 9.5lbs, but I was shocked when the scale finally stopped.  Carter weighs a whopping 10lbs 14.5oz, which places him in the 75th percentile for his weight.  Carter measures 22in, which places him in 70th percentile for his height.  I cannot believe he has grown so much in only a matter of 3 weeks.

After Carter was weighed, measured, and checked out by Dr. Hulsen, the nurse came back in to administer his Hep B vaccine.  I have never seen or heard Carter cry so hard.  He had actual tears in his eyes.  Poor bubba!!  As soon as I picked him up off of the table and gave him a nice snuggle he calmed down and slept for five hours!!

Nolan wanted a family picture, so we attempted one.  Not too bad!

Carter is One Month Old

Today at 10:48am, Carter officially turned one month old.  The past month has flown by.  Carter is a great baby.  He hardly ever fusses, only when he is hungry or has gas.  Carter goes to bed around 9:00pm and usually only wakes up two times during the night to eat.  He has his one month check up on Monday, so we will see how much he has grown.  I imagine quite a bit.  As you will see by the pictures, he doesn't miss too many meals.

Carter has also become my little shopping buddy.  I would not be a good stay at home mom because I like to shop way too much!!  The clerks at Old Navy recognize me when I come into the store!!  I'm sure Bill is ready for me to either get back to work or stop spending money.  Actually, now that I think about it probably both!!

I ordered sticker ties off of Etsy with months 1-12 on them.  Such a cute idea to record the milestones of a baby.  Carter had to suffer through my mini photo shoot, but he did survived.

Happy ONE month Carter Lynn!! We love you little pooter!!
