Polly Want a Cracker?

Nolan is meeting his developmental milestones right on schedule.  He loves to sit up and grab things all day long.  He really enjoys his entertainment center because of all the toys that move and make noises.  Bill and I love to watch him become ecstatic when he spins the parrot round and round.  Of all the toys on the entertainment center, Nolan likes the parrot the most.  Not only is Nolan grabbing toys, he now loves to grab mommy and daddy's noses!!  I definitely have to keep his nails trimmed now or else we will have battle scars on our faces.

Spoon or Bottle?!?

Tonight we attempted the inevitable and fed Nolan some delicious Rice Cereal.  In order to feed Nolan, we first had to find his high chair.  I found it in the basement and set it up.  While I was mixing the cereal, 1 tbsp of cereal with 4 tbsp of breast milk, Bill put Nolan in his high chair so he could get used to sitting in it.  Nollie liked sitting in his big boy high chair and kicked back to relax and await his food.  We gave Nolan the spoon to play with and he liked to chew on it. Daddy had a little fun with the spoon and stuck it on Nollie's nose.

 Here we go.......
 What was THAT!!
Mommy, you're getting awfully close to me with that spoon again.......
 Second attempt
YUCK!!

I ended up having Bill cut a bigger whole in the nipple of the bottle and fed the cereal to Nolan through the bottle.  He drained the bottle in no time flat and ate another 2 ounces on top of that!! Hopefully, he is nice and full and will sleep great tonight!!

Nolan's 4 Month Check Up!

Today was Nolan's 4 Month Check Up with the pediatrician.  Even though Nolan had Croup recently, he was still able to be vaccinated because he didn't run a fever.  Nolan weighs 15lbs 1.5oz and  is 26 1/8 inches tall!! For his height he is in the 90th percentile and for his weight he is in the 50-75th percentile.

Dr. Hulsen told us that we can start feeding Nolan "REAL" food now.  She gave us a schedule to start with Rice Cereal and how to continue introducing new foods to Nollie.  Nolan did a good job at the doctor appointment, but towards the end he became really fussy, tired, and hungry.  I think he knew the shots were coming.  After the appointment was over, Nolan fell asleep in the truck on the ride home.  When we got home, Bill warmed up the bottle and I fed him while he was halfway asleep still.  Nolan awoke from his nap all smiles!!

Bill and I decided to wait and try the Rice Cereal tomorrow night, since Nolan has had quite a day with the shots.  Here are some pictures of Nolan's battle wounds.

Stay tuned for pictures of the first feeding with Rice Cereal.  I'm sure it will be very interesting!!

Nolan's First Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone!! Nolan may have been sick, but we still had to celebrate Easter.  Bill and I both had Friday off, so we decided to go home Friday afternoon.  As soon as we got in the door, Nana had to take Nolan to see his First Easter present.  Nana and Papa T gave Nolan a turtle sandbox!!  It is too cute and I know Nolan will be playing in it very soon.  It even has a mote around the outside to put water in.  Aunt Kelby gave Nolan the classical movie, Peter Cottontail!!  Gigi and Grandpa Tub gave Nolan a basketful of goodies for when he starts eating big boy food.

 Nana's Pretty Tulips

What You Looking At!?!
 Had to go mushroom hunting!

Saturday, we went over to Great Grandma Beeler's for Easter Dinner.  Nolan still wasn't feeling very good, but he was a trooper.  Nolan took a nice nap with cousin Heather and hung out with Uncle Joe outside for a little bit.  Dinner was delicious.  Grandma Donna and Grandpa Rick got Nolan an adorable card and so did Great Grandma Beeler!

 Sleepy Booba!
Discussing who knows what!?!

After Dinner at the Beeler Farm, we came back to Nana and Papa T's to relax.  One of Nana's tulips broke off in the storm, so I decided to see what Nolan's reaction would be when he held it.

It lasted a lot longer than I thought it would!!

Today, we finally had a family picture taken!! Compliments of Aunt Kelby.  I told Bill we had to have a few pictures taken because Nolan was going to be a year old before we had a picture taken as a family.  I think they turned out pretty nice for Nolan not feeling well.

And last but not least, Nolan's First Easter Egg Hunt.  I thought we would hold off on the Easter Egg Hunt this year, since Nolan isn't even crawling yet.  Bill on the other hand, thought NO WAY!!  Nolan was taking a nap when the younger kids started hunting Easter eggs.  Bill went upstairs, woke Nolan up, and brought him outside to hunt Easter eggs.  Mommy wasn't too thrilled about this at first, but now I am glad to have pictures of Nolan with an Easter egg during his First Easter.

What an exhausting weekend!! Nolan is now catching up on his sleep.  He has his 4 Month Check-Up on Tuesday and I cannot wait to see how much he has grown!

HAPPY EASTER!!
Love,
Bill, Jenna, and Nolan

Rain Rain Go Away......

What crazy weather we have been having in Central Illinois lately!! I think there have been three tornadoes in the last week.  The only damage we have had at our house is part of the fence in the backyard blew over.  No real damage at all.  Luckily, none of our family back home had any damage either.  Since the weather has been crazy, its almost expected to have illness to go along with it.

Nolan had his first illness this week.  Tuesday night he started to become really congested, but he has done this before so we ran the humidifier.  Wednesday morning his breathing had become raspy and when he coughed it sounded like a seal barking, so I made an appointment with the pediatrician.  The pediatrician diagnosed Nolan with having Croup, NOT Gout as Bill told some people.  HAHA Daddy was a little bit confused.  Needless to say, Nolan was one sick little boy all week and we didn't see any improvement until today.  We did several steam baths a day and ran the humidifier all day, so much in fact, I think Bill and I lost five pounds each.

Nolan seems to be feeling a little like his old self today.  I took some pictures of Nolan's first illness.  Poor little guy, red eyes, stuffy nose, coughing, and diarrhea.  Mommy about had a nervous breakdown!!

Nolan's 3 Month Pictures

Nolan had his 3 Month Pictures taken March 25th.  They turned out really good!! Nolan did a great job. He smiled, laughed, and cooed the entire time.  Here are a few of the pictures, so that family can download them and print them off!!  Stay tuned for the adventurous Easter pictures we have planned for this weekend.
